Millersville, Pa. - It took three sets, but Samantha Prager earned a win at No. 2 singles and sealed a 5-4 victory for the Millersville women's tennis team in Tuesday's season opener against Georgian Court.

Prager won the first set 6-4 but Brittany Aimone evened the match with a 6-1 win in the second. The only match remaining on the six-court complex, Prager outlasted Aimone by a 6-2 count in the third set.

Millersville has now won the last two meetings against Georgian Court and has won its last three season openers.

Sophomore Melissa Plowman, who led the Marauders in wins while playing mostly at No. 3 singles a year ago, moved into the top spot and rolled to 6-3, 6-2 win over Sofia Sarkissova. Shauna Powers notched Millersville's third singles victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Victoria Gaffney at No. 4 singles.

Georgian Court managed to split the singles matches, but Millersville took two of the three doubles matches contested at the start of the competition. Plowman and Prager teamed for the first time ever and cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Millersville's No. 2 team of Powers and Kaeley McCabe triumphed 8-3 over Aimone and Lindsay Hammond.

Millersville travels to Erie, Pa., to face Mercyhurst on Sept. 18. The team does not return to McComsey Tennis Courts until Oct. 2.
