Box Score Dahlonega, Ga. - Coupling a strong outing from sophomore Chris Murphy and timely hitting from the lineup, Millersville knocked off No. 6-ranked and previously unbeaten West Florida Sunday afternoon by a 5-2 score.

Two years ago, Millersville (4-2) watched first-hand as West Florida (8-1) won the NCAA Championship. The Marauders never had a chance to play the Argos in 2011 and finally received a chance Sunday. Murphy (2-0) surrendered just two runs on four hits and one walk and struck out eight in seven innings. Adam Zipko closed out Millersville's fourth consecutive win and his third save by pitching 1.2 scoreless innings.

Kurt Seiders went 3-for-4 with a double, two steals, two runs and a RBI. Evan King stayed white-hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with run. Zach Stone, Dan Johnson and Jeff Heisey also drove in runs.

Murphy allowed only one baserunner and did not surrender a hit over the first three innings. In the top of the third, Seiders doubled home King to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.

The Argos tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, but Millersville answered right back with two runs in the fifth. The first four batters singled. Stone drove in Seiders and Heisey gave Millersville a 3-1 lead with a single of his own. West Florida pulled within one in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer, but that would be the last run it would get off the Marauder pitching staff.

Millersville padded the lead in the ninth. Freshman Tyler Orris drew a walk to lead off the inning. He eventually scored on a Dan Johnson ground out. Seiders, who reached on a single, pushed the lead to 5-2 when he trotted home following a balk.

Starter Dayan Rodriguez lasted 4.1 innings, allowing two runs. Justin Chambers, who worked 3.2 innings, suffered the loss.

King has now scored at least one run in the last five games, and is 12 for his last 19.

Millersville is now 8-8 against nationally-ranked opponents since the start of the 2011 season and may have a crack at two more next weekend in its annual trip to Williamston, N.C. Le Moyne, currently ranked No. 24 and Seton Hill, a preseason nationally-ranked team by a variety of outlets, play the Marauders on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Millersville first plays Glenville State on Friday at 4 p.m. Fans can follow all three games via live stats.
