A 1987 graduate of Millersville University, Peg Kauffman returned to her alma mater as the director of athletics in 2007 after serving as Millersville's interim director of women's athletics and 13 years as the head women's basketball coach at Lebanon Valley.

During her brief stint as director of athletics, Kauffman has overseen the department's move to Jefferson Hall (the university's first all-athletics building), renovations to the Millersville University Softball Field and the addition of women's golf as an intercollegiate athletic program.

In her first 12 seasons at LVC, she guided the Dutchmen to a 183-117 record. Her squads qualified for the Commonwealth Conference playoffs six times and competed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Championships on five occasions. She was also honored as the Commonwealth Conference and Women's Basketball Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year after the 2001-02 season after her squad finished with a program-record 23 wins, including 13-1 in conference play to earn the program's first Commonwealth Conference regular-season title.

Kauffman served as the assistant director of athletics at Lebanon Valley since 2001. During her tenure in that position, she assisted in the coordination of NCAA compliance for LVC's 21 athletic teams. She also was the senior women's administrator. She also served on numerous committees within the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation.

In addition to being an All-American guard and three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-Star, Kauffman spent the 1992-93 campaign as an assistant coach with the Marauders.

During her playing career, she scored 1,398 points and dished out 408 assists – numbers which still rank among the career leaders at Millersville – while leading the Marauders to two PSAC Division II championships.

She is a member of both the Millersville University and Lancaster Catholic Athletic Halls of Fame, where she was a four-year starter, notched over 1,300 points and was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year.

In addition to receiving a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Millersville, Kauffman also earned a master's degree in education in 1992.
