Coming off of a season-ending No. 10 national ranking and the squad’s best finish in 10 years, the Millersville field hockey team enters the 2010 campaign with high expectations. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) coaches’ preseason poll, announced Tuesday by league officials, ranked the Marauders fourth in the Eastern Division.

Despite the late summer heat surrounding Chryst Field, the Millersville field hockey team began preseason workouts for the 2010 campaign with its first practice Monday afternoon. The squad will continue to practice three times a day for the remainder of the week until it hosts an exhibition game with Red Rose on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Millersville field hockey’s sophomore goalkeeper Sara Dickinson was named to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA College Division District 2 All-Academic Third Team At-Large, which includes schools from Divisions II and III.
4.1.2010 | Field Hockey
The Millersville field hockey team, along with head coach Shelly Behrens, will hold its 2010 Shooting and Goalkeeping Clinic on Sunday, April 11. The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. The program also hosts a field hockey clinic and play day on April 16 and its 2010 RAD Field Hockey Camp from July 15-18.

Millersville University and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) will be conducting field hockey officiating classes on March 22, March 29 and April 5 at Jefferson Hall, Room 131 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Millersville field hockey seniors Kristie Testa and Krista Bupp played a key role in the program's return to the national rankings, and on Wednesday, both became the first Marauders in 10 years to be named All-America. Freshman Melissa McCarthy was also named to the womensfieldhockey.com All-Rookie Team.
