All-PSAC East Team

Julius Carter, four Millersville football players earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division honors Wednesday afternoon. The teams were selected by the league's coaches.
Carter was named All-PSAC East First Team Defense as one of four defensive backs. Junior wide receiver
Jamal Smith was voted All-PSAC East Second Team Offense at wide receiver, junior
Chad Miller was a second team pick on the defensive line, and senior
John Banzhof was the second team punter. It was the first All-PSAC selection for all four players, but Smith was the division rookie of the year in 2007.
From his safety position, Carter had a breakout season. He ranked 10th in the PSAC in tackles with 87 and also tallied 3.5 for loss. Carter led the Marauders with two interceptions, recovered a fumble and ranked among the PSAC leaders in forced fumbles with three.
Smith, in his first full season at the wide receiver position, solidified his status as one of the best athletes in the PSAC. He finished the season with 50 catches for 729 yards and totaled 12 touchdowns including 10 receiving. His 12 scores placed him a tie for fourth in the PSAC in touchdowns and sixth in scoring. He also ranked fifth in receptions, seventh in receiving yards per game, and most impressively, second in all-purpose yards.
Combining his yards from receiving, rushing and kick returns, Smith piled up 123.4 yards per game and 1,357 total. He totaled more than 100 all-purpose yards in seven games and went for 255 against Kutztown on Oct. 24.
Miller, a defensive tackle, emerged as a leader on defense, serving as team captain as a junior. He led all Millersville defensive linemen in tackles with 40 including 25 solo stops. Miller also made 12 tackles for loss and a career-high three sacks. He also picked off a game-clinching pass against Assumption and recovered a fumble.
Banzhof finished his Millersville career with another strong season as the team's punter and kicker. He was honored as a punter after averaging 38.6 yards on 78 punts. He hit nine punts of 50 yards or more and landed 10 punts inside the opponent's 20 yard line.
