
Swimming Takes Fourth at Highlander Invitational

Radford, Va. – The Millersville women's swim team broke 17 season-best times as the squad claimed fourth place at the three-day Highlander Invitational hosted by Radford University.
The Marauders earned 16 top-10 finishes throughout the invitational to earn a combined team score of 421. The relay teams stole the spotlight at the meet, as they all finished in sixth place or better.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Sara Steinagel, Breann Martinez, Amie Mowery and Sarah Bernhardt, took third place and recorded a new best time of 1:41.11. The 200-yard medley relay (Kelsie Jones Martinez, Bernhardt and Steinagel) swam for a new best 1:51.89 to earn second place, and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Steinagel, Mowery, Jones and Bernhardt) took fourth in a time of 3:41.64.
Jones earned second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.26 and placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke finish. She also claimed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley.
Bernhardt took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 58.68 and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.64. Beating her personal best by more than five seconds, Mowery finished sixth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.62.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Martinez finished eighth with a time of 1:11.46. Freshman Laura Castello took seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:55.14.
The Marauders return to action on Dec. 5 when they host York in Pucillo Natatorium at 1 p.m.
