ABOUT THE MATCHES
• Millersville looks to improve on the success of 2009-10 when it opens the season in with dual matches against Boston University and Bloomsburg Saturday. Expectations are high for this year's squad as coach Todd Robert in his first full season brought the once proud program back to its winning way for the first time in three years. The Marauders appear to be stacked with proven veterans. It will be the first time in the rich history of Marauder wrestling that a team will have four wrestlers with NCAA Championship experience.
• 157-pound Jarrett Hostetter, who took a redshirt last year with the goal of training and becoming an All-American, will anchor this year's team. Although redshirted, he was able to participate in several open tournaments and posted a 26-5 record.
• This year's team returns three national qualifiers from last season: Ray Bennett (197), Jeremy Brooks (165) and Shane Smith (174).
• The Marauders will be returning seven starters, all of who posted winning records last year.
• Saturday will feature a number of key bouts starting at 157 where the Martauders' two-time national qualifier Hostetter matches up against Bloomsburg's No. 2 ranked, two-time All-American Matt Moley.
• Another match to watch is in the 165-pound weight class where Millersville's All-PSAC and national championship qualifier Jeremy Brooks will go against Bloomsburg's Ricky Schmelyun, who was also a national championship qualifier and was among the national leaders in pins with 15.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
• Bloomsburg heads into the season with the No. 2 ranked wrestler at 157 in All-American Matt Mosley. The Huskies do not know what to expect in the upcoming season as they boast the veteran talent of Mosley and Schmelyun but have inexperience in a number of weight classes.
• Boston University has a mix of proven wrestlers and up and coming stars. The team will look to seniors Jim Connors (285), Carlo Ferrandino (157) and NCAA qualifier Mike Roberts (149) to bring them back to contention in the Colonial Athletic Association. Sophomore John Hall is one to watch as he posted 20 win in his freshman year.
ABOUT THE SERIES
• Saturday is the first-ever meeting between Millersville and Boston, but Millersville and Bloomsburg have faced 46 times with the Huskies holding a commanding 7-39 edge in the series. The two programs have not met since 2003-04, but previously, Bloomsburg had won three in a row and 12 of 13 dating back to the 1988-89 season. Since 1958, Millersville has defeated Bloomsburg just three times in 42 meetings.
