Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville field hockey team held its end-of-season gathering on Saturday, Dec . 5 and recognized its award winners for the 2009 campaign.
The awards were voted on by team members. Best Attacker went to junior
Emily Woodland, who led the team with eight assists and also added five goals.
Maria Thompson, a freshman, was named Best Defender.
For the second year in a row, co-captain
Meredith Dolinger, was awarded the Team MVP honor. Dolinger was an All-PSAC East First Team pick and along with one goal and two assists, she provided outstanding leadership.
Team Heart Award went to
Nicole Rayson, and the Coaches’ Award, given to the player most dedicated to self and team improvement was won by
Casie Baer.
In addition to the team honors, Dolinger and fellow senior
Kristie Testa were both selected to play in the NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star Game. Testa was an NFHCA Second Team All-American, and senior
Krista Bupp was named womensfieldhockey.com First Team All-America and All-PSAC East First Team. Freshman
Melissa McCarthy was named to the womensfieldhockey.com All-Rookie Team and All-PSAC East Second Team, and Thompson was named to the second team as well.
