Millersville, Pa. - Millersville senior
Priscilla Jennings may have starred on the track throughout her career, but on Friday, she was honored for her work in the classroom. She was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 College Division First Team.
The District 2 College Division included cross country and track and field athletes from schools in the NCAA Division II and Division III levels in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware. Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selected the teams.
With her first team honor, Jennings will now be placed on the national ballot for academic All-America honors.
She achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.80 in elementary education. She was also the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year for the second straight year after winning the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run at the PSAC Championships for the third year in a row. Jennings also tallied her fourth career All-America honor with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
It was the first time she was honored CoSIDA but was named USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field in 2008 and also during the 2008 cross country season.
Jennings' career included six national championship appearances between track and field and cross country. She totaled nine individual PSAC titles and one relay. She also had a hand in setting 10 school records.
