
Millersville Alumnus Ray Rychleski to Coach in Super Bowl

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville alumnus Ray Rychleski, current special teams coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, will coach in this Sunday's Super Bowl XLIV.
Rychleski '79 is in his first season with the Colts and his first season in the NFL after spending 27 years in the collegiate ranks. Prior to joining the Colts under first year head coach Jim Caldwell, he spent two years at the University of South Carolina as special teams coordinator and tight ends coach.
Rychleski also had a successful run at Maryland where his units went seven full seasons without allowing a blocked punt, setting an NCAA record. He also spent time with Temple, Northeastern, East Stroudsburg, Penn State and Wake Forest, where he coached under Caldwell.
This year, Rychleski helped guide the Colts to a 14-2 regular season record and an AFC Championship. Under his tutelage, rookie kicker Pat McAfee led the NFL in kickoff average (70.00) and averaged 44.3 yards per punt. He also worked with legendary kickers Matt Stover and Adam Vinatieri, and they combined to make 16-of-20 field goals.
The Old Forge, Pa., native earned a degree is social studies in 1979.
