Mechanicsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team is still making impressive marks on the third day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships. Despite sitting in 12th place, several Marauders set new school records and personal bests.
Arielle Walbert swam a school record breaking time of 4:42.87 in the finals of the 400-yard individual medley to earn 11th place. She beat the previous Millersville record, which she set back in November, by almost four seconds.
The 200-yard medley relay squad tied its own school record time of 1:51.89, which it too set in November. Kelsie Jones, Breann Martinez, Sarah Bernhardt, and Sara Steinagel placed 10th in the preliminary round, but came up short in the finals with a time of 1:53.47 for 12th place.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Bernhardt placed 15th in the preliminary round, but moved up to an impressive ninth-place finish in the finals. Her time of 58.83 missed her own school record by .15 seconds and landed her an NCAA provisional spot.
The second relay team of the day, the 800-yard freestyle squad, landed in 12th place with a time of 8:22.42.
Sunday marks the final day of the PSAC Championships. Results will be made available after completion of the meet.
