Millersville, Pa. — Heavy rains in West Virginia have forced the cancellation of Millersville softball's season finale, which was scheduled to take place at Shepherd beginning at 3 p.m. The doubleheader will not be rescheduled.
It's the second time in two seasons that a Millersville/Shepherd softball get together has been affected by bad weather. Ironically, the Marauders and Rams met to finish off Millersville's 2009 season as well. In that doubleheader, held at the Millersville University Softball Field, game two was cut short due to a thunderstorm that swept over the Lancaster County during the late afternoon hours.
Millersville will finish 23-24 overall for its fifth consecutive 20-win season. The Marauders saw an increase in PSAC Eastern Division wins this season, and played powers like Kutztown and West Chester tough all season. MU upset West Chester, 9-6, in what turns out to be its final game of the regular season. The loss kept the Golden Rams from winning the PSAC East outright.
