Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's golf team learned Sunday that it earned its third NCAA Division II regional bid in the last four years.
The Marauders finished the year ranked seventh in the Atlantic Region. Only 10 teams from both the Atlantic and East Regional will compete in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional held at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va., from May 3-5.
It is the seventh time since 2001 that Scott Vandegrift's team has received an invitation to the regional. A total of 80 teams comprise this year's NCAA field, with eight regions playing in four super regionals.
To win a spot at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, Millersville must finish in the top five at the super regional. The top two golfers not with a team are also receive bids to the national championships. Millersville's last NCAA Championship appearance came in 2003.
