Millersville, Pa. - If there is a young athlete in your family hoping to improve his or her skills, look no further than the summer camps and clinics hosted by the programs of Millersville University athletics. A total of 10 different sports hold a variety of events for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Signing up to the camps has never been easier as most offer online registration and online payment. Here is a complete list of the summer camps, brochures and contact information.

2010 BASEBALL SUMMER CAMP

The 2010 Baseball Summer Camp runs from July 19-22 and is for grades 2-8. Millersville head coach Jon Shehan (717-871-5736) conducts a camp that runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day and focuses on enhancing each players' fundamentals.  Marauder pitching, catching, hitting, outfield play, infield play and base-running philosophies will be presented along with drills sets that will provide instant feedback. Video analysis will be completed with each hitter and pitcher. Games will be played in the afternoons each day after lunch (provided by University Dining).


2010 EASTERN STATES CROSS COUNTRY CAMP

The 2010 East States Cross Country Camp hosted by Millersville University runs from Sunday, Aug. 1-Friday, Aug. 6 and is for runners in grades 7-12. Each day includes runs, technique work, recreation, special speakers and films. This year's camp includes a visit from special guest Jim Carney, who is one of the top U.S. distance runners. Jim has qualified for the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials in the 5,000m and 10,000m. Contact Millersville coach Andy Young for more information.

2010 RAD FIELD HOCKEY CAMP

The 2010 RAD Field Hockey Camp is for teams and individuals and is conducted from July 15-18. Athletes can stay on campus or be an extended day camper. The camps includes comprehensive instruction for individuals and teams, teach the skills, tactics and concepts needed for today’s player
to improve their game. Specialized instruction is offered for goalkeepers. The camp is open to all individuals grade 7-12. Contact Millersville coach Shelly Behrens for more information.

AUGUST FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC AND 7-ASIDE PLAY DAY

The 7-Aside Play Day is for 19 and under, 16 and under and club teams. Playing with six players and a goalkeeper, each team is guaranteed four-five games.

2010 MARAUDER FOOTBALL INSTRUCTIONAL CAMP

The 2010 football camp is designed for boys 7-17 years old who are interested in improving their basic skills and fundamental techniques of football. The camp, which runs from June 16-19, 2010 will be divided into junior and senior division.
Both the highly skilled and the beginner will benefit from the camp experience. Contact Millersville assistant Ron Rankin for more information.

2010 FRED THOMPSON BASKETBALL SCHOOL

The highly successful Millersville men's basketball program, led by head coach Fred Thompson (717-871-2047) and assistant Damian Pitts (717-872-3799) hosts two sessions of the 2010 Fred Thompson Basketball School on June 14-18 and July 12-16. The camp is for players aged 7-16. It focuses on the fundamentals and techniques of basketball and focuses on the skill level of each player.

2010 MEN'S SOCCER OVERNIGHT RESIDENTIAL CAMP

The nationally-ranked men's soccer team hosts an overnight camp for both residents and commuters from July 11-14 for athletes from 12-18 years old. Running the event is two-time PSAC Coach of the Year Steve Widdowson (717-871-5735). Each day includes tactical and technical instruction as well as game competition.

2010 MEN'S SOCCER DAY CAMP

The men's soccer program also offers a day camp from July 12-15 for athletes aged 8-14 years old. All campers receive a t-shirt and a ball.

MARAUDER CLASSIC THROWS CAMP

Millersville track and field coach Scott Weiser  hosts the Marauder Classic Throws Camp from July 11-15. Weiser is joined by five other instructors with collegiate competition and coaching experience. Each day includes skill sessions, video reviews and weight training sessions.

From July 18-22, the Millersville track and field team hosts a camp for boys and girls in grades 9-12. Technique, skill sessions, video review, weight training sessions are included.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LADY MARAUDER DAY CAMP

Millersville women's basketball, which reached the NCAA Division II Tournament round of 16 in 2010, hosts  a camp from June 21-24 for girls in second through fifth grade. The camp runs each day from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and is led by five-time PSAC East Coach of the Year Mary Fleig.

LADY MARAUDER DEVELOPMENTAL CAMP

The Lady Marauder Developmental Camp runs from June 27-July 1 and is for girls in grades six through nine. The program focuses on all aspects of basketball fundamentals and includes team practices, games and a variety of competitions.

MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY SUMMER SWIM LESSON PROGRAM

The Summer Swim Lesson Program is held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday over a two-week span and run for 30-60 minutes each day. It is hosted at Brooks Hall Pool and separated into four groups based on skill level. Coach Kyle Almoney runs the program from Brooks Hall Pool in three different sessions. Summer I runs from June 14-24, Summer II runs from June 28-July 8 and Summer III extends from July 12-22.
