Millersville, Pa. - Led by Terrence King's 26 points and 12 rebounds, East Stroudsburg invaded Pucillo Gymnasium Wednesday evening and halted Millersville's winning streak by an 88-76 final.
Millersville (5-10, 3-8 PSAC) had opened the PSAC East schedule 2-0, but ESU (10-7, 6-5 PSAC) kept alive the Marauders' streak of four-plus seasons without three consecutive division victories. King was the dominant force behind the impressive Warrior showing. He shot 10-of-11 from the field, sank 5-of-5 from the line, blocked three shots and six of his 12 boards were on the offensive end. The Warriors shot 55.3 percent from the field and hit 31-of-37 free throws, including 17 in a row to start the game.
Millersville's Anthony Coleman provided the bulk of Millersville's offensive production and kept Millersville within striking distance for much of the game. He scored 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
From the opening tip it looked as if ESU would run away with a win. The visitors started with an 11-0 run that included three consecutive threes. Millersville, however, charged back and even took a lead of 19-17 at the 12:12 mark on a layup from Jaymes Miller. ESU regained the lead quickly, though, and 6-2 run to close the half put the Marauders down 46-38 at the break.
ESU carried the momentum into the second half and jumped in front 58-44 at the 14:13 mark. Millersville pulled to within six with just over three minutes left on a jumper from Coleman, but ESU was simply too good from the foul line. The Marauders tried to extend the game by fouling, but the Warriors converted 10-of-12 in the final two minutes.
Larry Grant was the only other Marauder to crack double figures. He finished with 11 points and six assists. Miller and Demond Vance both totaled nine.
The Marauders travel to Kutztown Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip. MSBN will have the live audio here.
