Millersville, Pa. - With a little help from its rival West Chester, the Millersville baseball program is headed back to the PSAC Tournament for the second year in a row.
Millersville entered the final weekend of the season with a 12-11-1 PSAC East mark and needed West Chester to take at least three of four from Bloomsburg. West Chester won both games Friday at Bloomsburg, but Millersville's playoff berth was not sealed until late Saturday.
Bloomsburg won Saturday's opener 8-3 and led 4-0 in the fifth inning of game two. West Chester rallied with a 10-run inning and went on to win 10-6. The Golden Rams clinched the PSAC East title in the process. Millersville grabbed the No. 4 seed from the PSAC East and will play Mercyhurst in the opening round on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. This year's tournament is hosted in Butler, Pa. at Pullman Park.
Millersville has now reached the PSAC Tournament in three of five seasons under Jon Shehan, and it is the program's first back-to-back postseason berths since 1974-75.
Along with West Chester and Millersville, Kutztown and Shippensburg also qualified. Mercyhurst, Gannon, California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock represent the Western Division.
Day passes for adults are $7 and $2 for students. Admission is free for all PSAC students and PSAC passes are honored.
