
August and Chesler Win Atlantic Region Golden Gloves

Millersville, Pa. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently recognized Millersville's Mike August and Ryan Chesler as recipients of 2012 Rawlings/ABCA Atlantic Region Golden Glove First Team honors.
The duo gives Millersville eight first team selections since Jon Shehan became head coach in 2008. August is the first Marauder shortstop and Chesler is the first Marauder cather to earn a regional Golden Glove. At least one Marauder has won a Golden Glove in each of the last three years. The winners are voted on by coaches of the ABCA.
August, a two-year starter at shortstop, led the PSAC in assists with 134. He also impressed coaches with his range and strong arm, routinely taking away hits from the opponent. August also had a hand in 19 double plays.
Chesler, also a two-year starter, turned in an outstanding defensive season behind the plate. Of the 20 stolen base attempts agains thim, he threw out 14. He committed just one error in 270 chances, and had only two passed balls to his credit.
Joining August and Chesler on the first team were California's Troy Handza (OF) and Kyle Thomas (P), Concord's Ryan Johnston (1B), West Chester's Joe Wendle (2B), Kutztown's Shayne Houck (3B), Shippensburg's Cody Kulp (OF) and Slippery Rock's Carter Haponski (OF).
