Jen Probst

Jen Probst

In her 10 seasons, Jen Probst has taken the Millersville softball program to heights never before seen. Prior to her arrival, the Marauders had never reached the PSAC Tournament, and she guided the Marauders to the postseason two times in her first four seasons. Twice the Marauders have posted winning PSAC East records--a feat never before accomplished in the previous 31 seasons.

In her first season of 2016, Probst's Marauders came within two wins of the program record for victories and topped nationally-ranked West Chester twice in the PSAC Tournament. In year two, Brittany Smith became the first Marauder named PSAC East Player of the Year. In 2018, Probst's Marauders climbed as high as No. 5 in the NCAA Atlantic Regional rankings. Millersville has led the PSAC in home runs in each of the last three seasons.

Probst's coaching helped Millersville set a single-season record for home runs, RBIs, runs scored, doubles, triples and slugging percentage. Rebecca Blatt became just the fifth Marauder shortstop to be named All-PSAC East. Faith Willenbrock, who led the PSAC in home runs three times, is the only Marauder named All-Atlantic Region three times, and she earned All-America status in 2021. In 2023, Aleese Angelo set the PSAC record for doubles in a season and became the third player in program history--and the second under Probst--to be named All-America. Angelo then went on to match or break six career records in her next and final season at Millersville while earning the program's second PSAC East Softball Athlete of the Year nod.

Excelling in the classroom as well, six of Probst's players have earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.

Probst was named head softball coach on July 27, 2015. A two-time MAC Freedom Coach of the Year, brought to Millersville a championship-winning resume and link to the PSAC as a pitcher and graduate of Bloomsburg.

Probst started her head coaching career at Misericordia in 2010 and compiled a 150-109 (.580) record with a MAC Freedom Championship in 2012. Her teams totaled three MAC Freedom championship game appearances and postseason berths in five of six seasons. Probst’s teams were remarkably consistent, winning between 25 and 28 games five times. The 2012 club reached the NCAA Tournament. Probst was voted the MAC Freedom Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012.

Her teams’ successes have been built on strong pitching staffs and lineups that get on base and hit home runs. Misericordia ranked in the top three of the MAC Freedom in team ERA in each of her six seasons and led the league with a 3.19 mark in 2015. Twice her team led the league in home runs, and it hit 38 in 45 games in 2015. Probst coached 23 All-MAC Freedom players including four first team pitchers, a pitcher of the year and rookie of the year award winner. Additionally, her players accounted for 50 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic awards. Her team’s GPA has remained over 3.4 for six consecutive seasons.

Probst’s duties at Misericordia extended beyond the field as she also served as the department’s director of athletic operations and coached the volleyball team in 2013. Her coaching career started at York College in 2008. She served as pitching coach for two seasons, helping York to a 57-26 record, two Capital Athletic Conference Tournament berths and a national ranking.

As a collegiate pitcher Probst played for three seasons at Bloomsburg under legendary head coach Jan Hutchinson, playing in three PSAC Tournaments and three NCAA Tournaments. As a fifth-year senior, Probst transferred to Mansfield and played for Edith Gallagher while completing her biology degree from Bloomsburg. She earned a master’s degree in sports science from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2010. Probst’s ties to the PSAC extend to her family as her younger sister, Jessie Probst, graduated after a four-year career pitching for Lock Haven.
